Dr. Andrea Lam
Dr. Andrea Lam DMD, MSD, MA

Dr. Lam was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. She graduated high school from the Texas Academy of Math and Science and attended the University of Texas at Austin for her undergraduate degree in Biology. She earned a Master’s Degree in Medical Sciences with an emphasis in public health from the Boston University School of Medicine, and worked in the City of Boston’s public health department for several years before dental school.

She was accepted into the Boston University School of Dental Medicine, where she founded and served as President of the American Association of Public Health Dentistry’s Boston University Student Chapter and received the Dean Spencer N. Frankl Academic Scholarship, Department of General Dentistry Didactic Excellence Award, and DentaQuest Foundation Scholarship Award for Outstanding Community Outreach.

Dr. Lam graduated from dental school with Magna Cum Laude distinction, and moved with her husband, Dr. Mike, to Houston, Texas, to be closer to family. After practicing general dentistry for several years, Dr. Lam recognized her passion was to help children as they grow and develop healthy dental habits, and to provide a nurturing and safe environment for children to receive dental care. She earned a Master of Science in Dentistry while completing a two-year pediatric dentistry residency program at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, which provided her the opportunity to help care for special needs and medically compromised children at Texas Children’s Hospital and Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Dr. Lam has travelled to Costa Rica and Guatemala on dental mission trips and is committed to continually giving back to the community, regularly volunteering at the Houston Food Bank. She is an intermediate speaker of Spanish and Mandarin, which she learned from growing up in El Paso (and in part from Dr. Mike!), and from her parents who were originally from Hong Kong and Taiwan. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Lam enjoys going to the Houston Rodeo and Astros’ baseball games, trying out different ethnic cuisines around Houston, traveling with her family, and taking lots of photos of her and Dr. Mike’s cat named Shrimpy! She is excited to welcome you as part of their dental family, and will do everything she can to help your child feel safe and comfortable, while providing excellent dental care, in a fun and happy environment.
